Paths primarily mean decisions. The card gives you options, solutions to a problem. These options are challenging, and a decision takes careful consideration. It is a card of free will showing that you always have an alternative path you want to choose.
Chess: options, solutions. The Four Queens, the four choices. You can spend your life concentrating on materiality, lust, and the ego or finding liberation from illusions. It is a war between good and evil, matter over spirit, balance or imbalance, which defines the nature of one's mind, body, and spirit.
However, greed and the ego's sweet words and her beauty might put you in a trance, letting your guard down, and chose the wrong path. It is the card of mystery, stillness and passivity.
The card suggests that it is time to retreat and reflect upon the situation and trust your inner being to guide you through it. Things around you are not what they appear to be right now. With inner-reflection, you will be able to find your guide, psychic power, the Voice of the Universe, the enlightened subconscious. Silence, meditation, containing a power of its own. Only when you're retiring from the world, allowing your subconscious to rise.
It is reflected with a mirror within - usually represented with water - advising you to see the creator within and to listen to your inner voice and recognise your spiritual power. Most people never rest like this because society supports the total suppression of the subconscious, but without it, we will never understand ourselves. The card of Paths is a symbol of infinite knowledge. The card can express beauty but also fear. We know there is more inside than what we can see and understand.
